This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students from 5th-8th grade who are usually coming to me for Speech and Language sessions always respond well with the help of new therapy materials. Students from middle schools are coming for the speech sessions from Monday-Friday.

As an SLP in a low-income, high-poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My Project

My Autistic and Intellectual disability students will benefit from the reading comprehension books and or Communication games. The storytelling games will enhance children’s vocabulary when they listen to the stories. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interests of my students. Due to the pandemic, students were previously zooming in the classroom. Students have lost lots of vocabulary words while they were zooming previously. Students in my classroom would like to communicate basic wants and needs verbally with peers and adults. I am in need of reading comprehension books, Match Sort Reading Comprehension Quickies cards, Pirate Island Reading for Detail game, Scene Sequencing Cards, What's Happening? Photo Cards and a language sequencing card. These resources will help children to enhance their vocabulary and improve their auditory comprehension skills in the classroom and speech therapy sessions.
