Help me give my students peer leader hoodies to make them recognizable to their 9th grade mentees and improve student mental health through the power of positive peer connection.
This project provides custom hoodies for our amazing 11th grade students who are serving as peer leaders to 9th grade students this school year. The 11th graders lead weekly outreach sessions for 9th graders, improving the mental health of our youngest students as they navigate high school. Through their outreach sessions, 9th graders build special bonds and positive relationships with one another and gain valuable social-emotional skills.
The custom hoodies will make our peer leaders recognizable so that our new 9th graders know who they can turn to for guidance in the school environment.
Peer leadership has also been shown to improve student attendance and engagement in school, leading to more positive outcomes in adulthood. Our peer leadership program has relied on grants and donations to continue running; please help us continue a strong program that improves our students' mental health through peer connection.
