Improve Fluency With Technology!

My Students

Our third-grade students are hard-working learners who are excited about coming to school, excited about learning, and excited about documenting their learning through various formats. One of our goals this year focuses on reading fluency, an extremely important part of the reading process.

Our students love to read and being able to record and listen to their reading will inspire and motivate them to work even harder!

Our third-grade students love to use technology to help them reach their goals. They have high expectations for themselves and they enjoy working to meet these goals.

My Project

This iPad will allow the students in third-grade classrooms to practice and improve their fluency using various apps, including Digital Portfolios. Students will be able to record themselves reading and then replay their recording to hear how their fluency is improving and progressing. Students will also be able to share their fluency videos with their parents and their parents will be able to give them positive feedback about their progress. Donations to this project will help our students improve their reading fluency and achieve their third-grade fluency goals. Every student will have the opportunity to record themselves in our DIY sound booth, as they work to improve their fluency with the use of an iPad. The ease of using an iPad will allow students to work independently to create their own digital portfolio with examples of their reading and of their fluency progress throughout the year. This will ultimately help every third-grade student reach their fluency reading goal for the year. Reaching the goal of improved fluency will help our students increase their comprehension, expand their vocabulary, and complete reading tasks more efficiently. This project will have a life-long impact on every student and their success as a reader.
