This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Printmaking offers a wide variety of creative expression. Without a press, our students become limited in what they can achieve. This press will allow them to expand their current printmaking experiences and better prepare them for upper level art courses.
Our students are different than the average art student, they have applied, auditioned and have been selected to be a part of our academy program.
They are focused and create outstanding work. Many of our students have decided art will be the path they pursue in college and career.
My Project
With this donation our academy students will have a print-makers press available for them. These presses can allow them to properly print linoleum cuts, woodcuts and monotypes to name a few. Presses are not commonly seen in the middle school classroom, or even often at the high school level so this will give them one of many advantages they will receive through our academy program.
Printmaking with a press presents many opportunities for these students.
They are exposed to a unique method of creating art that cannot be duplicated with any other method. This press is not limited to one type of art. Students can even use a press to create cards or posters as a way for them to generate funds and market their art program. The possibilities are endless!
