Our fourth and fifth grade students at RVCS come from many local communities, are different ethnic backgrounds, are of many varied economic backgrounds, have different beliefs, and are engaged, creative learners starting their second year at a new charter school. Together these students observe, question, collaborate, communicate, and create! Reading and being read to is a highlight for these students. Since we are a new school, we do not have a library for our students to visit each week.
My Project
Fourth and fifth grade students will use fiction stories about various immigration experiences to support their understanding of why people leave their homeland and what difficulties they face in their new home. The non-fiction books will help students as they learn to take notes and turn their research into a piece of informational writing. As a Charter school we do not have a library for the students to visit, so we must depend on a strong and well-stocked classroom library for our students to enjoy reading and research. Your donation will help us with this goal of immigration books for all.
