This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is to bring an immersive experience to our science lessons. My classroom is full of inquisitive, smart, and hardworking kiddos that come from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. The richness of our diversity makes our classroom community so special. The differences, however, can impact the background knowledge and experience that each child brings to the learning space.
Creating an immersive and hands-on science unit allows students to have a shared learning experience that engages all of the senses and allows each student to have the same experimental knowledge on the subject.
Next Year I will continue teaching this same group of curious and bright learners. As the butterfly lifecycle correlates to our science standards, the butterfly house will be essential to mastering the content area. Creating interactive science notebooks will get them excited, provide great opportunities for discussion, and a way for them to document their learning and watch their own progress.
