Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of optimism, even though they are in a very tough, highly impoverished area that offers few opportunities to see the world around them.
They surprise me every day by coming to school ready to expand their learning, no matter the difficult night they had or the hunger I may see in their eyes for love and attention.
I want to give them the opportunity to venture outside their city and learn in immersive environments that will help with social-emotional learning, college and career development (with onsite training skills), and embedded VR experiences from all subject areas!
My Project
Having two Oculus Go headsets will allow my students to collaborate on projects in a safe, comfortable environment to develop their learning in an immersive way. They will get to develop college and career training by interacting in immersive college walkthroughs and job simulations.
They will be able to be transported from their home town (from which some have never left) to any learning place on the planet, even the universe!
It will also help them with social-emotional learning so they may collaboratively work on their social skills in an environment that may be more comfortable for them than the intimidation they sometimes face in the school environment in front of all their peers.
