Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a school counselor, I work with students from grades PK-8. The needs of each of them are different, but one constant remains; the need to feel physically comfortable in order to be emotionally vulnerable.
Students are more likely to open up emotionally when they feel physically comfortable.
Students need a break from traditional desks and chairs, particularly when they are emotionally dysregulated.
Creating a space where students can work with school counselors to do art projects to support their mental health, have meaningful conversations, read books, play games, calm down, get their wiggles out, and so much more is vital. This furniture will allow us to create a counseling space that is as versatile as the work that we do.
