At my school, poverty is a way of life. Located in rural Montana on an Indian reservation, over 80% of students qualify for free lunch and more than 50% enter Kindergarten without any prior early childhood education. The Children’s Defense Fund states, “Poor children score significantly lower on reading, math, and vocabulary tests when compared with otherwise similar non-poor children.” Poverty is correlated with several multiple undesirable outcomes. One of these outcomes is increased risk of school failure.
Inspiring young learners to rise above the barriers of poverty!
I desperately need your assistance to help my students escape the barriers of poverty and provide them with the opportunities to be successful in school and life. I have a classroom full of creative students who are eager to learn. Your donation will enable me to provide creative and engaging math, science and technology lessons that will capture their imaginations, and develop a desire to become life long learners.
My Project
Using the Osmos learning system will provide daily hands-on learning opportunities to create, explore and break down the barriers of poverty. Students will use the Osmos learning system in a small group learning environment to develop co-operative learning skills, perseverance through problem solving, and develop a life long desire for learning, knowledge and education.
Breaking down the barriers of poverty through innovation and technology.
My students love to create, build, explore, and share their understanding of the world around them with others. Using the Osmos learning system will enable them do what they LOVE in an innovative and engaging manner. By funding this project, you will be inspiring today's young minds to be tomorrow's innovators.
