Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 26 AMAZING first graders who truly see themselves as authors, linguists, mathematicians, engineers, inventors, artists. They willingly trot into our classroom smiling from ear to ear ready to greet me with the kindest, sweetest good mornings, "Good morning Mrs. Wonderful G!" They are precious! They live to the fullest extent seeking more and more knowledge each day. They are like little sponges absorbing all the academic information that is provided to them!
My little scholars are challenged with economic hardships and at times, poor family structures, yet it DOES NOT deter their hopes and dreams for a brighter future.
Once they enter into our classroom full of life, color and vibrancy, they can cast away fears of living amidst one of the highest crime ridden neighborhoods in the heart of Los Angeles. Our classroom is a safe haven where students feel emotionally safe and respected.
For as small as they are, they have big dreams. They are inquisitive, innovative thinkers who go WILD for hands-on learning and technology! They are thirsty to engage in creative projects but sadly, many times I am not able to provide these 21st century real-life experiences.
My Project
I am beyond excited to post this project! 3Doodler Pens will exponentially increase my students attention and love for learning, so that my little scholars can thrive as visual and kinesthetic learners making meaningful connections to real life lessons. We desperately need these pens to LITERALLY bring their ideas to life.
The possibilities are endless with 3Doodler Pens!
So often I hear myself saying, "Be creative! Use your imagination!", and yet I lay in front of them paper, pencils, and crayons. With these 3Doodler Pens, my students will FINALLY be able to be "their own kind of creative". Using the STEAM movement as a catalyst, we will integrate science, math, and engineering to build their next generation robot. We will read, "Boy + Bot" to inspire this innovative process. They will work collaboratively to design the robot of their dreams. They will use the 3Doodler Pen to create 3D shapes to build the robot. Trust me when I say, their eyes will gleam with excitement!
And we're not done, yet! My little scholars will continue to learn and transform their thinking through many other STEAM projects, but how can I continue to increase this thirst for knowledge when I have limited resources? That is my daily struggle! The 3Doodler Pen will assist in fostering innovators, inventors, and logical thinkers in a 21st Century world. This oh-so-very-exciting product will inspire and encourage students to pursue careers in STEAM. It's never too young to know what you want to be when you grow up! Please help me give my little scholars a springboard to their ultimate dream job! Thank you!!
