Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from every country you can imagine. We are located in one of the most diverse school districts in the United States and our student population reflects that beautifully. With so many backgrounds coming together, English is very often a second (or third) language for many of our students.
Reading plays an integral part in teaching the nuance of a language, so the more access to books that I can provide for my students will translate into a deeper learning experience.
My Project
All of these books reflect the diversity of our students. Good reading means good writing and better communication. When a student finds themselves reflected in the characters and the authors of a book, they are more likely to be interested and engaged.
We make time to read every single day.
Giving my students novels that will spark their imagination is the most important thing I can do to help them become lifelong learners.
