Imaginative, Inquisitive Students Inspired by iPad Options!
My students need an ipad for class projects and research, documenting the progress of our grant proposal for a new science play area, and to learn all about app smashing.
GT students complete a number of exciting technology based projects throughout the year. Our goal this year is to grow creatively, work collaboratively, enhance our technology skills, engage in rigorous studies studies that we are passionate about.
Our school is located in a rural agricultural area.
We are over 40% free and reduced lunch and are in the process of being designated a full title campus by next school year. Our elementary school currently serves students from Pre-K through grade 5. The average class size is approximately 20 student. Limited funds and increased student growth have placed us behind in access to technology equipment. Of the 548 students on our campus, 21.9% receive academic support services and 4.6% received gifted and talented support.
My Project
GT and title students enjoy utilizing technology. We have an exciting large scale project planned this year. We plan to build an Exploration Station, outdoor science hands on play area, on our playground. We'll be utilizing technology to document our progress and to research and develop displays and interactive content for our students. GT student will also learn all about app smashing, video making, and will even be participating in learning to code activities. We'd love to learn how to develop an app that would accompany the activities offered in our Exploration Station as well. We love learning and we love how technology enhances learning opportunities!
The students in my classroom will be inspired by many of the applications of technology to subjects they are interested in.
They can become inspired to learn to create apps and technological resources, to utilize technology to enhance their interests, to find applications for technology within careers. For example, apps like Aurasma in the medical field and so many more, to discover their world in a whole new way. The possibilities are endless!
