I teach a large Kindergarten class of nearly 30 students. Our mobility rate is incredibly high so students are in and out throughout the school year. The students in my class are curious and fun. They are eager to come to school and learn everything they can. They are mostly from low-income families but have strong ideas and opinions for little kindergarteners.
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in learning.
One of my goals is to provide a safe, comfortable, and loving home away from home so that my students can learn as much as they can while they are in our room. I can do that with your help.
My Project
There is a big misunderstanding that when children are playing, they aren't learning. This couldn't be any less true. Play allows children to apply things they know about the world through their powerful imaginations. In addition, play is incredibly language-rich, promoting not only social-emotional learning but increasing exposure in all curricular areas. According to the report, Crisis in Kindergarten, the power of play as the engine of learning in early childhood and as a vital force for young children’s physical, social, and emotional development is beyond question, yet play is rapidly disappearing from kindergarten and early education as a whole.
