Help me give my students 3Doodler pens to take them beyond a computer and create objects that express their imagination or social-emotional well-being in the form of 3D models.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a technology teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. In my classroom, I strive to create a positive learning environment in which they can thrive. In our class, our goal is to give our all every day.
My students are sweet, kind, smart and hardworking.
They deserve the very best that this world has to offer. I can't wait to watch them achieve their hopes and dreams!
My Project
This past school year has been difficult for the students in our school. Within our school district, we know how important it is for children to feel secure, valued, and cared about and to develop strong social-emotional skills. Social emotional learning is a required daily topic. Our students have been learning virtually for almost a full year.
Eleanor Roosevelt said “With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” With the COVID-19 pandemic, it has brought social emotional needs to the forefront for students and teachers.
We are fortunate to be able to return to school in the next few weeks. With this transition, it will be difficult for some students to navigate their emotions. I will be working alongside our Social Emotional Therapist to create lessons that will incorporate art and technology into our social emotional lessons. For example, after reading the book Ish by Peter Reynolds, students can use this as a starting point for self expression. Using 3Doodlers will merge technology, art, and social emotional learning. 3Doodlers provide a 21st century learning experience for our students and gives them an outlet for their creativity and emotions. Students from kindergarten through eighth grade will be able to share their creative outlets using 3Doodlers.
Our school has an integrated autism program where students are mainstreamed into general education settings. ALL students within our school will be able to share their feelings and creativity during our social emotional lessons that can easily be launched after sharing a book together. The social emotional learning specialist will be available to guide and support students as needed, as well as create the starting point for our lessons.
