My students need opportunities to explore a variety of media as they engage in the process of creating art. I am requesting items such as Dab and Dot Markers, Playfoam modelng foam, and Shapescapes Mezzo.
"Look! I did it!" That's the voice I often hear from students as they master a skill with confidence and excitement.
This is a growing new campus in our district where students are delighted to explore a variety of media while in art giving them inspiration towards new learning to apply within and outside of our art studio.
The start of this school year was a challenge with the interruption of Hurricane Harvey. Our hope is to continue to increase our limited supplies in a new school and student learning in an inspiring environment beyond the memories of the storm.
My Project
Students are filled with excitement when they enter the art studio to see stations ready for learning. These stations give them a choice of activities for engagement in the visual arts.
"Imagination Stations" are an opportunity for students to explore art with a variety of media.
In the sculpting station, students use modeling foams to create three-dimensional representations of two-dimensional art. In the drawing station, students use textured rubbing plates to create a visual appearance of how something feels by touch. In addition, students are able to apply math and science skills as they measure proportions with "Shapescapes" or explore how symmetry is used on a Spirograph.
