Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am creating an area in my classroom so that during free or study periods, students can use these crafting tools and accessories that will add to my "Makerspace" area to create projects or crafts based on their own interests or things they're currently studying in class. This will also help them further explore and understand the concepts of Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics with a hands-on approach. We need arts and crafts supplies like acrylic paint, air dry clay, scissors, and more.

The goal is to empower students to see themselves as inventors, builders and creators with a hands-on learning approach to assist with critical thinking skills and even boost self-confidence.

My students come from low, socio-economic households and these extra crafting tools, which is a hardship for their parents to provide, will add to our "Makerspace" area so that they can further stretch their minds, creativity, and imagination.

Furthermore, as they tinker, create, communicate, collaborate, build, and construct, my students will be able to analyze what's working and what's not, and they have to try different tactics to solve problems. Through this process, they will also learn to experiment, accept failures, make improvements, and develop the resiliency they need to try and try again.
