My students need a 4-person listening center with CD player, a read-along story telling kit with books and CDs, a story writing kit with drawing paper, 5 stamp pads, and some phonics cubes to help make words for their creative stories.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a Kindergarten teacher in a Georgia Public School. I am constantly trying to find resources to help my students be more successful.
Many of my students come from low-income families. They have limited knowledge of the world around them. So, I have to provide some experiences for them by reading books. My students love to listen to stories, act out stories that I have read to them, and try to "read" these stories on their own. With all the budget cuts, I don't have enough reading books and supplies to fill this need.
To feed this "hunger" for reading, I would like to create an imagination station. This station will have a listening center, books on CD, writing/drawing paper, phonics dice, character and setting stamps, and stamp pads. My students will use these supplies to listen and create "stories" about the books that they have heard.
By supporting this project, you will ensure that these students reach for the stars instead of staying stuck on the launch pad.
