This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For most of my students, it is their first time to attend school. So it is my goal to spark their interest in all aspects of their academics.
Pre-kindergarten students are very enthusiastic learners!
We are at a Title I school with a very high percentage of students and families living in low income homes. Most of my students are English Language Learners. While poverty and language can present barriers for my students, they are learning not to let their challenges get in the way of education. As their teacher, it is my job to create excitement in their daily routines at school in order to make their school experience fun and worthwhile.
My Project
Our classroom library consists of books that my students can browse and enjoy at their leisure and during center time. There are also two computers by the library that the students tend to gravitate more towards to. With the rise of technology at their fingertips, I want to expose them to eReaders to show them a new media in which they can enjoy books and reading. These eReaders will be different from tablets because their purpose will be to expose the students to a variety of books that will ultimately get their imaginations running wild. Our classroom library will definitely be a hit!
