I am an art instructor in a rural elementary school in the heart of Ohio. Of the many notes left on my desk, one in particular spoke to me. The note read, ”...I wish that you could be my art teacher forever, I love art...”

Before my young artist loved creating so much, she had to see for herself that she could be successful. The transformation to a positive mindset was just the growth I was looking for.
Not every child in our elementary school believes they’re a young artist. A typical excuse for not trying for personal best is, “I am not an artist, my art is not as good as...” I would like to show as many young artists as possible they too can be successful at creating.
My Project
Thank you in advance for your generosity for helping my art students to understand that visual arts can take many forms. So many times students only work with paper and crayons in the art room. I would like to enrich their experience in the art room with fiber arts projects.
This year I plan to have our elementary young artists create their own patterns to make stuffed animals (creatures), and recorder case for music class.
The proper materials will help my students with the success of their fiber arts project. The majority of the materials chosen will be reused year after year.
