Kindergarten is the foundation for the rest of a child's school career. It is the opportunity for children to create a life-long love for learning. This is what I try to bestow upon my students each day! My children come to school eager to learn, create, and grow together!
Coming from a high poverty area, my students come to school eager for the opportunities that their teachers provide for them.
Most of the students that I receive are on free and reduced lunch. They do not have easy access to zoos, aquariums, museums, and more due to residing in a small, one stop light town. My students have to travel thirty minutes or more just to shop at the nearest Wal-Mart. I am working toward providing them with opportunities within the classroom in order to broaden their horizons and imaginations!
My Project
In utilizing small group centers, my students will have the opportunity to express themselves through the arts! This easel would provide my students with a designated area which they can utilize paint, markers, crayons, and more in order to bring their imagination to life.
Art has taken a backseat in early childhood education due to budget cuts over the past few years.
Our students may receive up to three days maximum opportunity to attend physical education class and a maximum of three days to go to a computer lab. Music and art are a thing of the past. With this art easel, I will be able to bring out the creativity within my students. It will give them an opportunity to express themselves through drawing, painting, and utilizing their imagination!
