My Students

I am a fourth grade teacher at a Title I school in Virginia. We are a Pre-K through the 8th grade building. Nearly 900 students call our school their home. This year, instead of switching classes, I have the pleasure of having one class of 24 students all day. This is a true pleasure as I really get to know the students better the more time I spend with them. Within the 24, students are receiving special education services, and there are English language learners, French students, and gifted learners.

For many of our students, school is more than just a place to learn.

It is also a source of consistency and love. Some of our students have been through more in their young lives than most adults.

Norfolk is home to the largest naval base in the world. Many of our families are part of the military which means that many of our students have to deal with one or even both of their parents being on deployment for long periods of time.

I hope to provide the students with a safe and fun place to learn!

My Project

My students have shown such a positive attitude toward virtual learning during this 2021-2022 school year. We've had to persevere through countless technology issues, learning curves, and the immeasurable amount of stress of teaching and learning through a pandemic.

My students have risen to the occasion and showed me just how truly resilient children can be.

I'm extremely proud of their work ethic. Please help me celebrate my kiddos by providing them with a "Lucky to Have You" goody bag as a token of my appreciation in celebration of their dedication. Each student will receive an a bag filled with yummy treats and fun things to add to our Leprechaun themed week of reading, writing, and building Leprechaun traps!

Not too long after, SOL testing time will take over and we'll be swamped by testing review. With all their hard work, my kiddos deserve to be celebrated. I'm grateful for your help with making this idea a reality for my kiddos!
