Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a school social worker, I work with all children in my school building. Our students come from homes in impoverished communities and experience several barriers that prevent them from arriving to school on-time and on a regular basis.

Several of our students carry the weight of their homelives on their shoulders while simultaneously trying to stay engaged in learning each and every day.

Our school is doing our best to provide love and support to foster academic growth and achievement!

My Project

My students need resources to help them stay in the moment and become aware of how their feelings and actions not only affect themselves, but those around them. The mindfulness resources in my fundraiser such as Kinetic Sand, Temper Tamers, Bucket Fillers, Feelings Flashcards, and tons others, will help our students learn in a fun and engaging way!

Many of my students bring the effects of poverty, trauma, homelessness and other toxic stressors to their lives at school!

Our teachers are in need of extra resources to assist our students in processing their emotions and responses to life situations to ensure it is done in a trauma-sensitive manner.
