This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I feel very fortunate to be working for a district where safety for families and staff is their top priority. And for this reason, I am able to teach remotely and provide the highest quality education I can provide for my twenty first grade students. And even though I am teaching first grade, my first graders are so responsible and so eager to learn. Class starts at 9:00, but my students would wait in the Zoom waiting room way before that. And when class starts, I see that my students are well groomed and are ready to start class. I feel so privileged to be able to teach from home and work with such a wonderful group of students.

My Project

The majority of my students are from a low income family and just having the basic school materials is financially burdensome for many, especially during this time of uncertainty. And even though my school provided each of my students with the basic school supplies, they received very minimal. Additionally, the most important school supply my first graders need and use the most are lined papers (as they are just learning to print numbers and letters) and the supply is very limited and are asked to replenish their own when supplies run out.
