Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Even though most of my students are engaged in remote learning for the foreseeable future, the following still applies to my current students. I don't want students just sitting using pen, pencil and paper. That's not the world they live in.

My students are talkative, creative, and curious.

They enjoy activities during which it doesn't seem like I'm trying to teach them something (although I am) such as drawing a veggie or fruit as a superhero and sharing its superpower with 4 people and then drawing the hero's nemesis and sharing again, or having teams of students build a 30-centimeter tower out of link cubes that will support the weight of a basketball.

Many of my students have difficultly sitting still and quietly for an extended period of time in a normal classroom environment. They also live in a low income area, and some of them don't have many toys or books. A few don't even have crayons and paper at home. Despite these challenges, my students are eager and excited to learn!

My Project

The return to the classroom will be challenging for everyone. Help make my students' return to the classroom a little more fun and, hopefully, less stressful.

These fraction and vocabulary games will help my students catch up on any lost learning and have fun at the same time!

Fractions are an important standard in 4th grade. We spend most of the second half of the years focusing on adding and subtracting fractions, as well as learning the concepts of equivalent fractions.

These fraction games will give my students a refresher on comprehending fractions. Also, the vocabulary games will help with in person communication, something we've all missed during this trying time.
