This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching students in NAC and ESL grades 6, 7, and 8. These students just arrived from different countries such as Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador. I teach at a Title 1 school where there are 98% Hispanic and less economically disadvantaged kids. My students are on free or reduced lunch. After Hurricane Harvey, I have been purchasing supplies for them. Any help would be of tremendous support, so students can move on and continue learning in order to become successful one day.

My Project

My students need a new functioning TV in the classroom. We have our TV, but it’s very ancient. It’s a Magnavox. It doesn’t work because it needs a digital box. Nowadays, students have to be in the loop of current events. They aid them to think critically and be part of what’s going on around them. With the smart TV, I could easily pair my IPad and show video clips that invoke higher level thinking skills. I can’t imagine how excited and engaged my students will be in their every day learning. The best way to teach the new generation is to expose them to topics they are interested in to get them hooked to learning skills and concepts needed in their daily lives.
