My students need earbuds to aid in learning with the websites and applications we use to differentiate learning. Also, we need flex seating and decor to maximize our learning space.

My Students

My students are "Gladiators"! They come to school prepared and ready to learn despite the obstacles they face daily. My school is a Title I school, so over 90% of the students come from low-income families and receive free or reduced lunch.

Although many of the students face hardships they look forward to coming to school.

It is their place of solitude to get away from the problems at home. They work hard and put forth an honest effort to ensure their success in this challenging environment. They are eager to connect with the content and apply their knowledge to real world experiences. My students genuinely want to succeed in this amazing subject and I am here to help them accomplish their goals. The classroom is where they are free to make mistakes and grow from them.

My Project

The students enjoy learning with Chromebooks in our classroom. We have been blessed with applications and websites that aid in student learning. However, it would be nice to ensure that each student has a set of earbuds to listen to individualized instructional videos in a comfortable learning environment with seating options.

Have you ever heard 20+ students all listening to different videos at the same time?

With the diverse student population, I have quite a few students with varying needs. Many students have a hard time sitting in the standard chair, for many different reasons-- a couple of reasons include: hyperactivity, disability related, or other needs. I co-teach with special education and we have a majority of special education students in our room. The majority of students will benefit from flexible seating choices, like the ball chair and beanbag chairs that I'm requesting this seating will especially benefit them!

It can be overwhelming, for both the teacher and the student. Earbuds will enhance our literacy and math programs by allowing students to use available programs to their advantage. Also, we need additional seating options for students to collaborate with their peers to help with creativity, communication and learn in a 21st century environment.

We currently use several instructional websites as our math resources. Using the read-aloud option the students are given the ability to work at their own pace, in their own way. Another website is one of our Financial Literacy resources. It has a section of read-aloud stories to hook students into being lifelong readers and learners.
