This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will have a significant impact on my hard-working students, many of whom come from low socio-economic backgrounds and are striving to become the first in their families to attend college. They are dedicated learners who often face challenges but they remain determined to succeed academically. Providing them with the P51™ Enzyme Lab: β-Gal Glow™ and Molecular Fluorescence Viewers will open up hands-on, inquiry-based, biotechnology learning opportunities that they rarely experience due to limited resources.
With this lab, my students will investigate enzyme activity by measuring the effects of pH, temperature, concentration, and competitive inhibition on reaction rates.
Engaging with real-world scientific processes in a tangible way will deepen their understanding of complex biochemistry concepts and strengthen their critical thinking skills. This experience will not only support their biology studies but also inspire them to pursue further scientific exploration as they prepare for college and future careers.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
