At AES, we foster a community of students with strong character and high self-esteem who display critical thinking skills that will enable them to become life-long learners. Our staff members and parents work together to educate more than 600 children in grades Pre K-5th. Our school is considered a Title I School with 100% of our students receiving free and reduced rate lunch.
My classroom consists of 18 amazing students.
Each student is unique and brings vivacious energy to the classroom. Out of those 18 students, 7 can identify their alphabets, 3 can count to 100. I'm required to use technology, but have no computers and only 3 iPads. Though we have many interventions in place for these students, many of them are lacking the necessary resources to continue working at home.
My students will be able to access apps that reinforce skills and enable higher level learning. An iPad helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners open up the doors of education and individualize their learning experiences. The iPad will become a tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences in the classroom as well as build twenty first century skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world. My students will be able to work in centers with the iPads, writing, reading, learning phonemic awareness skills, working with math manipulatives and more. They will be able to create both independent and collaborative projects in order to show true understanding of concepts.
