Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Dream it, wish it, do it" In my classroom, my kids know that we never say "I can't". We live by that motto and know that we can do anything if we try. I want my kids to dream big and know that they can be anything and do anything.

The majority of my students come from low, socio-economic backgrounds and attend a Title One school in south Louisiana.

Our school has recently been recognized as a top school in Louisiana that has achieved growth from the 2012-2013 school year. With that being said, many of our students are faced with atypical situations outside of school and with a little love, motivation and dedication, our students can succeed. As the students move to higher grades, the Common Core State Standards' assessment program PARCC requires that parts of the test be taken online. Also, as a part of the Common Core State Standards, students as early as Kindergarten, must learn to "Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words." In order to help our students be prepared for the years ahead, we need to provide our little ones with opportunities that can improve their educational experiences.

My Project

My students will use the iPads during small group time, as well as intervention time to engage in learning activities. These activities will focus on first sound fluency, early reading intervention, counting, and math facts fluency. I will purchase educational games from the app store that will allow me to personalize games for each child's educational need.

These iPads and cases will allow our classroom to thrive!

It will change my students lives by allowing us to have technology in small groups. They will be able to cooperate together and take learning to another level.
