Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I am privileged to learn and grow with my class one more year as we looped together from kindergarten to first grade in a blended co-teaching model with an awesome Exceptional Education Teacher. We get to watch 20 passionate high energy first grade students stroll through our classroom door with huge smiles on their faces each morning and a true desire to learn.

Our school is very diverse and full of students who have high energy while wanting to learn.

The majority of our students live in homes that English is not their main language spoken. The only chance to learn English is within our school walls. We incorporate lots of hands-on activities as well as lots of opportunities for students to speak in their first and second language. All of our students are extremely eager to strengthen their academic and English language skills.

My Project

We need an iPad mini and case. Our students will use this iPad and case during reading centers, guided reading, personal learning times (PLC), small group time, math centers, as well as guided math. Students will be able to use apps and software that was purchased through the school, as well as other software I currently own. These materials will help my students with varying levels practice both their literacy and mathematics skills in a fun and interactive way.

Having this technology during our reading and mathematics blocks will help our EL students practice their skills and gain confidence in a fun and interactive way.

These necessary skills will allow lots of differentiated opportunities to practice these vital skills throughout the school day during structured and unstructured times.
