Today's generation of children that walk into classrooms are surrounded with technology. It strengthens instruction when children's excitement of technology can be incorporated into their learning.
I teach first grade in an Oklahoma school that values teaching to the multiple intelligences.
The children in my classroom love to read and listen to stories. They are developing foundational literacy skills that will enable them to be successful readers and writers.
My Project
The iPads will be used with small groups of students or for individual learning while the teacher works with small groups. Educational apps will be purchased to support student learning based on children's needs.
The iPads will also be used for children to have access to electronic books so that they can hear fluent readers read as they develop their fluency as well as read texts. The iPads will be used to document student's growth as readers during this foundational year of literacy as they read parts of text and their reading is audio and video recorded so that they can listen to their own reading and develop their fluency. The iPads will allow children to track their own progress as well as provide documentation for families of their learning and growth.
The iPads will provide opportunities for children to track their individual growth.
The iPads will offer opportunities to take photographs for children's portfolios, capture audio and video recordings of children's reading or work in the classroom to communicate with families about student growth. The iPads will provide the capability for children to self assess their work and set goals throughout the year.
