Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." I desire for my students to always be engaged and excited about their learning. I want them to understand the importance of education in their lives.
I teach in a Title 1 school, where the majority of students receive free and reduced lunch.
Many of my students are not given as many opportunities as other children in our area. We have a wide variety of personality types in our classroom. I always like to tell my students that in our classroom they are part of a family. We all bring different things to the table. Some of us are more quiet and to themselves, where others are loud and outgoing. Some students love sports and learning history and war, where others love math, or science, or reading science fiction novels. All of our interests are different, but we still find common ground and have similarities. We are all able to contribute to make our classroom the best learning environment it can be!
My dream is to have students use this iPad with case as a tool to their learning. There are many different programs that students can use to not only challenge them, but excite them about the content being presented to them. We already use programs such as Math Prodigy, Accelerated Reader, and many others to assess where the students are in their learning. This challenges them to reach their goals. I would also use this iPad to allow students to research for their projects assigned to them in all different subject areas.
Our students are living in a technology driven world.
It is so important that they are aware of how to properly use computers as a resource to their learning. This desktop computer will help to engage students with all different learning styles. Your generosity will help these 5th graders to think outside the box and make learning fun!
