Teacher professional development: I need an iPad to help with my own professional development at district training sessions as well as on my own and in the classroom. <profdevpilot>
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from all over the world, speak many different languages, and begin the year with very varied academic skill levels. This is what I love most about my students, but this is also what makes it most challenging to engage them all and get them reading and writing: ready for first grade.
I have been a kindergarten teacher for 11 years in the same district and have experienced many changes.
Change is good and keeps me continuously learning just like my students. With such a diverse student population, I must constantly reevaluate my lessons to reach each one, and obtain new enriching materials.
My Project
I am purchasing an iPad with a cover and a keyboard. I plan to use this at my professional development training sessions which include, but are not limited to: common core state standards, literacy foundations, and our new district math program. We are asked to bring an iPad to most trainings to access data and specific websites used by our district for research and support.
Technology is so important in the classroom and an iPad would certainly enhance and enrich my students' learning experience: I would have immediate access to a wide variety of materials and support on-line to allow me to help and engage all my students.
An iPad would also help me to better assess my students, one-on-one with the district mandated DIBELS assessment program.
An iPad in our classroom will allow me to offer my students access to the endless materials available online to enhance any topic we tackle, such as reading, weather, animals, math, our planet, and so much more.
