Kindergarten isn't what you remember as a child. Our children are required to know so much. They need to come out of kindergarten reading and writing. For them to master these skills, they need a lot of hands-on practice. Adding an iPad center to my room will spark excitement to practice key concepts daily.
I teach 44 awesome Kindergarten students who are eager to learn.
We are all excited to be at a school where the staff lives out our motto each day "Every Child...Everyday...Whatever It Takes." To do that we must all work hard. These 2 iPads will not only affect my students but all the students in my early childhood wing. We have an extensive tutoring system setup for our K and Pre-K students. They will be able to use these iPads to practice key concepts that they are struggling with. At our school, we live the motto everyday!
My Project
With 2 iPads in the classroom, the students would be able to work on many different skills using a multi-sensory and individualized approach. There are apps available for reviewing letters, letter sounds, numeral recognition, as well as reading and writing.
The iPads will help provide practice in the area of phonics, literacy and math. I can also attach the iPads to my SMART Board in order for all the children to see the screen at once so directions can be given or we can play a group game.
The possibilities for iPads in and out of my classroom are endless!
I would love to know that while I am doing small group instruction with a group of children that I could have two to four children on the iPads working on an app that was appropriate for their skill level. Any donation to this project will make a lasting impression on the lives of some very precious children!
