I teach 19 outstanding dual language learners that must master two languages in their everyday learning. They are part of a Title I district in South Texas.
My incredible group of students consists of English language learners with different learning styles and abilities that enjoy hands-on activities and are always eager to learn.
Even though the majority of my students don’t have a lot of resources or educational experiences at home, they are still eager to learn new things and take advantage of all the opportunities that are presented to them. They are motivated and always excited to take on new tasks.
My Project
All my students learn differently. I have some visual learners, auditory learners, and kinesthetic learners, but I also have those students that learn best when they reinforce their learning with technology. My students have access to different educational websites and apps in school, but unfortunately all of them require the use of technology and internet access. A lot of my students have neither accessibility at home, so the only place for them to implement the use of such programs is in school. Students will be able to use the iPad to work independently on the skills they feel that they need help with when they finish with their work.
While all students are unique and learn differently, they all share the love for technology.
The iPad will help fill in the gaps with the skills that they may need more practice in. Students will be able to get a more individualized instruction, whether they be working on specific math, reading or science skills through the use of the different programs available to them. By having some students working on the iPad with needed skills, such as financial literacy skills, reading or science I can help struggling students that need the one to one teaching.
