This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember that class you took in high school or college that was completely over your head? My 9th grade students come in at all different levels, and many of them are currently struggling to keep up.

My students come from one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city, but they come to school every day wanting to learn.

However, some students need to make up more than just one year of learning. Some are missing up to 4 years of English skills. How does one teacher teach 4 years in one?

My Project

The use of technology in the classroom is the key to help students who are far behind in their reading and writing skills. The iPad has hundreds of free applications for students to download and use to fill in the holes in their education. There are also applications for students to check their grades, learn to type, and become a more knowledgeable student.

This project will help my most struggling students.

This iPad will help close the achievement gap that I see every day in my class and it will make a difference in my student's education.
