This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This will be my 4th year teaching 4th grade at my current school. I have been fortunate to meet great students throughout my time here. One common factor that I find between the classes is that there is often a few students who have a hard time focusing on their assigned work. It could be the sound of cars passing by or other students reading to themselves but they can't seem to focus.
I have thought about what I can do as their educator to help them pay attention to their work and I realized that having headphones can help them tune out the disruptions.
I also thought that by having access to different fidget tools they could relieve stress and find ways to cope in an overstimulating classroom. Getting work done in class should not be a stressful time and I hope that by providing these resources I can help them relax and maintain their attention during instruction.
