My Students

OCASA students are thinkers, inventors, creators, and builders. We are a school built on the belief that STEAM and project based learning are the best way for students to gain essential 21st century skills.

Our students have the potential to do great things inside and outside of the classroom.

We are trying to build a love of reading and increase literacy skills in our 2nd and 3rd grade classroom. To help our students meet their fullest potential, we need the right tools. Our students are looking to succeed and thrive and need the right literacy tools that allows them to do so!

My Project

Students in my classroom devour books. They have a strong passion for reading. Our library is missing a fundamental for a well-rounded classroom library. We are missing a variety of books filled with science including conservation, endangered animals, alternative energy sources, coding, and technology. We are missing quality fiction books that captivate my young learners.

Students in my classroom are given time each day to explore their interests through a reading workshop.

They have the choice to choose books that interest them. Unfortunately, I currently do not have any high-quality fiction and nonfiction books that will encourage students to continue to learn and grow.

Through this project, students will have access to high-quality books, that will foster a love for reading.
