it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember what it was to be in Kindergarten? My students are active and enjoy exploring. Their young minds need tools and meaningful experiences. We are a Title 1 school with a very high percentage of low income families. While poverty and language can be barriers for my students, I like to create a learning environment that makes their learning fun. As their teacher, I must create an environment where my students can express themselves, but they need the tools to have a creative and meaningful experience in kindergarten.
My Project
The portable speaker will allow me to take the speaker to various locations throughout the school to ignite students' movements and imagination. Many students are becoming isolated, having less play time; but with music I can help develop my students' brain and help them develop spatial awareness.
My goal is to guide my students to communicate though movement with creative dance in school.
My kindergarteners will also have the opportunity to use the speaker as a tool during physical education by playing songs that will guide students into physical activities. My kindergarteners will also have the opportunity to use this as a tool during our celebrations. For example, during writer's workshop celebration, students share their published books to the class. With the speaker and microphone, students will have the opportunity to practice their "speaker voices" while reading their book to the class.
