My Project
My students are curious, creative, and full of big ideas. I teach STEM to Kindergarten through 6th grade in a vibrant and diverse elementary school in Roseville, MN. Many of my students come from communities historically underrepresented in STEM fields. Every day, I see their eyes light up when they're challenged to build, design, and problem-solve.
In our STEM space — the Spark Lab — students dive into robotics, engineering, coding, 3D design, and hands-on science.
Students in grades 3–6 use 3D scanners and Tinkercad software alongside our classroom 3D printers to explore and develop their design skills.
Currently, our students use 3D printing to:
- Design and print prototypes for engineering and design challenges
- 3D scan classmates’ heads to create custom game pieces for math board games they design each spring
- Design and print medals awarded to grade-level champions in our annual Chess, Checkers, and Connect Four tournaments
- Reverse engineer existing pieces and use digital calipers to design and print their own chess sets
- Build a wide range of 3D modeling and design skills that are highly relevant in today’s tech-driven world
This project will replace the aging 3D printers we've relied on for the past decade with a modern, reliable Bambu 3D printer. This upgrade will give students faster, higher-quality prints — and more opportunities to bring their ideas to life.
Your support will put cutting-edge technology into the hands of hundreds of young makers each year, empowering them to be creators, innovators, and future STEM leaders. Thank you for believing in hands-on learning and the incredible potential of our students!
