Help me give my students Kindle E-Readers so they can ignite their love for reading with books and topics that interest them.

My Project

In today's screen-filled world, students attention is captured by almost everything other than books. The research is in, students reading rates are at an all time low and literacy rates are falling at an alarming rate. We need a new approach to reigniting our kid's passion for learning. And the technology to do it is accessible to us. All we have to do is make it available to our children.

I am asking for your generous support to fund four kindle E-Readers for my classroom.

These devices only support one thing. Reading while allowing students to choose from a virtually unlimited supply of books. I want to pilot a program that will allow students to read about topics they have a burgeoning interest in. My hope is that this approach will build a life-long love of reading at a critical time in their development as 5th graders. Furthermore, kids are naturally inclined towards using technology and I believe that the "shine" of a tablet will further pull them towards reading.
