I am a veteran teacher at a small public school in an urban neighborhood in Colorado. Although I am an experienced teacher, I am new to kindergarten this year and am in need of some tools to make my classroom a magical place for all students! My young students are kind and eager to learn. They had varied experiences in their early childhood years due to the impact of COVID-19. Some students had preschool experiences cut short, while others stayed home and had limited opportunities to socialize with peers.
My goal is to create a play-based kindergarten classroom where kids learn through play!
A light table is a valuable tool in a play-based classroom, and my students and I would be so eager to have one in our classroom. Can you help ignite magical learning in our classroom? A light table will provide us with an illuminated surface for kids to create, build, explore, and more. It will provide opportunities for my little artists to trace and mix colors. It will allow my growing mathematicians to work with transparent manipulatives, putting together pattern blocks, or building with Magna tiles. It will provide my budding readers with an illuminated surface to trace letters and build words with letter manipulatives. A light table would also be an amazing surface for creative sensory play, which is a critical need for young students.
