Ignite Innovation: Robotics Reading with MicroPython and Raspberry Pi
Help me give my students the resources to explore robotics, MicroPython, and Raspberry Pi, empowering them to innovate, problem-solve, and transform their communities with these essential engineering and computer science skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The books on robotics, MicroPython, and Raspberry Pi will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of these subjects. These resources will enable students to explore programming and robotics through detailed explanations and practical exercises. Access to such materials is crucial for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as it bridges the educational gap and equips them with essential skills for future success in engineering and computer science. The books will also support their literacy development, helping them grasp complex technical concepts and apply them in hands-on projects.
The primary goals for this project are to:
Provide students with comprehensive resources to learn about robotics, MicroPython, and Raspberry Pi.
Encourage self-directed learning and foster a deeper understanding of technical subjects.
Equip students with the knowledge and skills to pursue careers in engineering and computer science.
Inspire students to use their learning to develop solutions for real-world problems in their communities and beyond.
My students are innovative, curious, and determined. They aspire to enter fields like engineering and computer science to support underrepresented communities and address challenges within their own demographics. Despite facing economic hardships—90% of students at our school are on free and reduced lunch—they exhibit remarkable resilience and ambition. The majority of our students are Hispanic, and many are English language learners, which brings a unique cultural richness and diversity to our classroom. Their diverse perspectives and strong drive to learn and succeed make them truly special.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
