This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
If you've ever been a struggling reader, you might recall wanting to hide your weekly practice story or be intimidated that your teacher is assigning chapter books while you were still sounding out words - well this is life for my group of struggling readers.
My students are very animated and love using technology.
At times it is difficult to hold their attention and get them to concentrate on the text in front of them.
I also have a diverse group of students, with a wide range of reading abilities. They are all eager to learn, but we are in dire need for tools to help them all thrive.
My Project
With a Kindle Fire, a shield, and case, a love of reading will be reignited in all of my students. A tablet like the Kindle will literally put millions of books, magazines, and newspapers in their hands. The Kindle also comes with a lending library where my students will be able to borrow thousands of books for free.
My students need this so they can read and discover stories in seconds. Imagine - any book is just a click away!
They will also see how technology can be used to learn in new and exciting ways. Struggling readers will thrive with the Text-to-Speech capabilities.
I share my love of reading with my students on a daily basis but this project will help all students ignite their own love of reading!
With the Kindle Fire, my students will experience reading in a whole new way!
