My Project

All of our students come to school wanting to learn. Some come less prepared because they didn't have the proper nutrition before entering the building. The snacks I requested will provide available nutrition on-demand throughout the school day for my students. Middle school students do not eat at a specific time, they eat ALL of the time! Their bodies are ever-changing and their minds are always in need of nutrition (fuel) to learn.

Studies have shown that academic performance and attendance are both affected by the health of students.

The healthier the child, the more likely the student is to attend school and perform well. Nutrition plays a vital role in whether or not a student is healthy. Being hungry throughout the school day may cause focus issues and behavioral issues. My goal is to help tie students over between breakfast and lunch or between lunch and their meal at home after school.

I have been a teacher for over 30 years and day in and day out students eat snacks in my classroom. I watch as their minds work hard to perform when hungry and as their minds are fueled by that small snack that I provide. Not every student has that extra dollar to stop at the store to get a snack on the way to school. I make it my goal to try to provide that extra snack in between!
