My Students
I am special education teacher in Chicago Public Schools. My students are in 3rd-5th grades. My students have varying levels of ability and varying disabilities.
My students are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and kind.
My students come to school eager to learn and try their best with everything they do. My students enjoy exploring different academic topics and making their own connections to the text through stories and pictures. I want to instill a love of learning into my students which is more possible when we have the necessary supplies and materials
My Project
The teaching easel will be very beneficial in my classroom. It will be used during reading workshop, writers workshop, and math instruction. Currently, my classroom does not have a board that is used for all of instruction and having a main board will make a big difference in the classroom.
My students benefit from visuals during instruction and making instruction interactive, which is exactly what the teaching easel will provide for them.
The easel will be used to draw our thinking during reading workshop, to demonstrate sentence structure during writers workshop, and to model solving math problems during math instruction. The easel is also magnetic which will provide more interactive learning for my students. We will be able to use different magnetic manipulatives during math instruction, sentence strips during writing, and many other visuals throughout the day.
