This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are attending school for the first time in a newly opened flexroom! This space is designed for students who struggle with self-regulation in the regular education setting. Social skills and peer interaction are difficult for some of my students with autism and they need extra practice to develop these skills necessary for a child's development.

Structured play can help autistic children learn sharing, turn-taking, and social skills.

Structured play activities can be particularly useful for autistic children who are learning early play skills like sharing, taking turns, and interacting with other children. Students will use the MagnaTiles to build two and three-dimensional shapes. They will work together with their typical peers to be able to visualize their creation and see it come to life.
