If you build it, they will come! Our energetic and creative 5th grade students are ready to make a change in our community. They want our school community to learn all about nutrition and eating healthy! We can start by building a school garden!
My Project
Students will engage with the garden as part of a structured class. Each class will determine the way the garden will be utilized through PBL. Students will learn the importance of a healthy diet and the benefits to eating fresh grown produce. Each class will determine how their section of the garden will be used. The teachers will facilitate student learning and use the outdoor space as an additional classroom. During winter months, students will work mostly indoors to learn prerequisite skills and determine a plan. Students will also work on germination before planting some vegetables in the garden. Then, students will engage with the garden two to three times weekly depending on grade. Activities and lessons will be different across grade levels.
