My Project

Our kids suffer from apathy. They are bedeviled by the very same condition Binx Bolling, the protagonist of Walker Percy's novel "The Moviegoer," sought so desperately to escape: "the malaise." Our country is in the midst of a teenage mental health crisis.

It doesn't help that our school library reflects this emptiness.

Empty shelves provide resting places for loose papers and banal books are hardly afforded a second glance. The books purchased from this project can change this. Stocking our library with high-interest books will draw more students and help to cultivate a culture of reading in our school.

Please help our students see how they fit within the story: how indispensable a character they are; how their presence adds to the narrative and keeps the plot moving; how, although the conflict is all they can see right now, that if they just keep turning the pages they will see the resolution is just a couple of chapters away.

Help our students see that the world is far bigger, far brighter, far more beautiful than they know.
