Gifted students and problem solving go hand-in-hand (literally in this case). My GATE (gifted) students are craving additional opportunities to practice using their keen sense of observation, memory, and ability to solve problems. My students can't wait to try, fail, and look at the situation in a new way.
Most people presume that since a child is gifted, they excel in all areas.
However, most gifted students need additional experiences to nourish their abilities and participate in collaborative activities with their peers.
My gifted students represent a very diverse population. This project would impact approximately 50 students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.
My Project
These materials will literally put problem-solving skills in the hands of my gifted students. Students who attend our weekly before school Rubik's Club will engage in 21st Century skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
In an effort to keep pace with our ever-changing world and provide these students a challenge, Rubik's Cubes are the perfect match.
Students will work together to learn algorithms for solving the puzzles. The products I have selected will allow students opportunities to practice and engage with essential skills to enrich their minds, boost confidence and self-esteem, and have fun with their peers.
